Department Of Education & Outreach Created At The ERuDeF Institute

Following a recent re-organization of the structure of the ERuDeF Institute last July 6th 2017, the President of the Institute of Biodiversity and Non-Profit Studies (ERuDeF Institute), Louis Nkembi, has created a new department named Department of Outreach and Continuing Education.

The creation of this Department according to Mr. Nkembi is a way to decongest the erstwhile Department of Training and Professional Development for effective administration and management.

The focus of this new Department according to the President, will be extending the scope of ERuDeF Institute’s conservation education and sustainable development vision to Cameroon, Africa and the world at large.

Key Units of the Department include; Rural School Library & Development Initiative, ERuDeF Institute Environmental Education Awards, Wildlife Nature Arts Initiative, ERuDeF Junior Students Programme and ERuDeF Institute Sports for Conservation.

Just like the Unit’s name denote, activities will include but not limited to creating rural school libraries, organizing ERuDeF Institute Environmental Award, wildlife/nature arts in schools, creating ERuDeF Junior Clubs in schools carrying out development projects and organizing sports for conservation games amongst schools and rural communities.

With the creation of this new Department, many schools, students and communities stand to benefit as its activities are coined towards charity. According to the Department Head, Samuel Mbale, at least eight schools will benefit from the rural Library Initiative this 2017/2018 academic year.

Some five students will also benefit from the Environmental Education Award besides scholarships to study at the ERuDeF Institute through the Junior School Program and many trophies to be won during the sports for conservation games in schools. To meet the above mentioned targets, activities of the department will kick off effectively after school resumption that is by October 2017.
