The ERuDeF Institute of Biodiversity and Non-profit Studies (ERuDeF Institute) has signed partnerships with environmental clubs of six secondary schools in Buea, Southwest Region.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on January 13, 2016 with the principals of Summerset Bilingual High School, Charity Comprehensive Academy, Inter-Comprehensive College, GTHS molyko Buea, GBHS Muea and St. Therese Bilingual High school, is aimed at grooming the next generation of Cameroon’s conservation and environmental leaders.

According to ERuDeF Institute’s Education for Sustainable Development Coordinator, Mirabel Teku, this partnership will facilitate the orientation of students on career opportunities in biodiversity conservation and environmental protection.

“The students will participate in and win prizes in environmental contests organized by the institute, receive training on environment related issues, write and submit short environmental articles and poems for publishing, as well as partner with ERuDeF Institute to identify environmental projects within their schools and local community and submit for international funding,” said Teku.

The establishment of the partnership culminated in the election of club executives for the various schools.

“The coming of ERuDeF Institute to assist in the management of our club programme is the best choice since they are professionals in the field of environment. I am sure their presence and activities will further stir up my passion in environmental issues,” said Abugiche Randel Moh, the Vice President of Summerset Environmental Club.
