Biodiversity conservation and management experts across Cameroon last September 30th,2016 converged on the ERuDeF Institute of Biodiversity and Non-Profit Studies in Buea to review, analyse and upgrade the syllabus of the Institute. This was to ensure that the syllabus captures recent challenges in the field of biodiversity conservation as well as ensure that it meets up with national and international standards.
For over ten hours, the team of experts drawn from the University of Dschang, Buea, and Yaounde 1, went through all the courses for the National Diploma, Higher National Diploma, Professional Bachelor Degree and Professional Masters Degree overhauling the contents. They commended the Institute’s desire and efforts to offer quality education and training to students and called on other private higher institutions to follow suit.
According to the experts, the syllabuses of the different programmes for National Diploma, Higher National Diploma, Professional Diploma and Professional Master’s Degree have been well conceived to meet the competitive labour market.
“The curriculum of the Institute has been well conceived. We have just fine-tuned and adjusted a few details to ensure that it befits international standards” Dr. Okolle Justin said
On her part, the Deputy Director No 1 of the Institute in charge of Training and Curriculum Development, Ms. Akeh Nug expressed her satisfaction with the standardization of the Institute’s curriculum.
“Now, we have an outstanding curriculum in Biodiversity Conservation and Management. Our curriculum is up to date and we are very certain to produce the best brands of future conservationists” she ascertained.
The Deputy Director promised to ensure that this syllabus doesn’t remain in ‘black and white’ but is translated to lecturers, field trips and other training packages.
