The ERuDeF Institute of Biodiversity and Non Profit Studies declares to the general public the they have few more days to participate in the third edition of their Annual Environmental Education Awards. Instituted to build the capacity and knowledge of youths and student in biodiversity and environmental management, candidates have up to 11:59 Pm of October 20, 2017 to participate and grab some 50,000 fcfa in both cash and kind.
While seeking to improve the understanding of the Cameroonian public especially youths on the importance and socio-economic value of the environment and its contribution to nation building, the award builds the next generation of environmental leaders.
The theme for this year’s award goes in line with the theme of the World Environment Day: Connecting Man to Nature is open to high school and undergraduate students of universities and higher Institutes of learning. The award urges young Cameroonians to appreciate their natural environment, recognize the services and benefits the natural environment offers mankind and to come up with strategies of protecting the environment for the benefit of both current and future generations.
Candidates are expected to write an essay on the contemporary relationship between man and nature with concrete examples from their local communities. (Not more than 2 pages, 1.5 lines pacing, font size 12 in Times New Roman)
Secondly, they should explain the role of conservation organizations in connecting man to nature, and the benefits man stands to derive from being in permanent connection with nature, (At most1 page) and also explain how an Institution like the ERuDeF Institute contributes to reconnecting man to nature ( 1 page).
Prizes will be awarded to the first five successful candidates. In case of many competitive draws, a tombola will be drawn to select the best five. The first three will carry a cash prize worth fifty, thirty and twenty thousand CFA respectively. The last two winners will receive consolatory prizes.
All write-ups and copies of students’ identification cards should be put into sealed envelopes marked “ERuDeF Institute 2017 Environmental Education Award (EIEEA)”.
Envelops should bear students’ addresses including telephone numbers of both the student and their guardians and sent to P.O. A panel of jurists consisting Media and Legal experts, officials of the ERuDeF Institute, SMU and Ministry of Secondary Education, will meet on Friday, October 6, 2017 to deliberate and select the winners. The Winners will receive the prizes on Friday, November 20, 2017 at the ERuDeF Institute in Buea, SW Cameroon.
