The Governing Council has overall responsibility for the University Institute and may determine all matters of University Institute policy except those specifically assigned to the Executive Council.
The Governing Council Determines the mission, vision and values of the University Institute, in accordance with the educational policies and laws of Cameroon;
Engages the teaching and other staff as required, and determines their duties, conditions of employment, and salaries and honoraria;
Determine the administrative and academic organization of the University Institute;
Exercise internal disciplinary jurisdiction over the non-academic conduct of students, including the power to expel or suspend for a cause;
Regulate the conduct of staff and other persons who use the property of the University Institute, including denying any person access to the property;
Enter into agreements to further the University Institute’s purposes, including agreements to develop and deliver joint academic programs;
Establish and collect fees and charges for tuition, and for other services that may be offered by the University Institute or that may be approved by the Governing Council on behalf of the student’s association, or any organization or group of the University Institute; and
Generally, do anything else that the Governing Council considers necessary or advisable to carry out the purposes of the University Institute.
Delegation
The Governing Council may delegate any of its powers or duties — except the power or duty to make a by-law — to any committee of the Governing Council or any person.
The Governing Council;
- must provide for the retention and control of all University Institute records;
- Publish an annual academic report that includes aggregate information respecting enrolment, attrition, graduation and graduate employment placement, in accordance with guidelines provided by the Minister of Higher Education; and
- Conduct an operational and organizational review at least every five years, in accordance with guidelines provided by the Minister of Higher Education.
Composition
Chairman: who shall be preferably a professional either an entrepreneur or an industrialist of repute interested in the development and promotion of quality professional education
Five persons to be nominated by the University Institute
One Staff representative for a minimum of one and maximum of three years.
One representative of Govt. from the ministry of Higher Education Dept. of Training & Technical Education.
Secretary: Registrar of the University Institution.
